Individual Counseling
Specializing in older teens and adults navigating the complications of life…
At Fruits of Freedom Counseling, we provide a multi-faceted approach to your therapeutic experience specifically geared to communities of color like Black, Hispanic, and other BIPOC backgrounds.
We first begin with identifying the “vines or chains” in your life, so we can start addressing the obstacles you are facing early in the process, piece by piece. Through the utilization of multiple therapeutic approaches personalized to your unique challenges and needs, you move through therapy more efficiently. Homework and practice in the real world are important tools supporting the process. Some of the areas we treat include, but are not limited to:
Anxiety and fear (specific or general)
Depression or apathy (lack of connection to life)
Trauma management
Self-esteem and insecurity issues
Existential crisis (questioning purpose and who you are)
Navigating life decisions; trusting oneself
Difficulting identifying and/or communicating emotions or needs
Managing relationships in relation to boundaries, codependency, and attachment dysfunction
Dealing with personal relationship concerns or conflict
Adapting to change or discomfort in life, career, and relationships
And various other areas of need
Core Interventions
-
This unique intervention allows us to explore the different “voices” involved in your internal decisions and thinking dialogues. With this treatment, you can heal historical wounds and identify the intentions of those “inner protectors” that may keep you stuck or distressed in the decision-making processes of life.
-
This technique focuses on self-soothing, mindfulness, and coping through the discomforts of life. There are many things that are simply out of your control, such as other people. Sometimes, you just need the tools to deal with the difficulties peacefully in order to stay mentally regulated.
-
This type of therapy helps you look at your life as a series of choices and understand where you can make direct changes based on your own choice of behaviors. It looks at where you are and where you want to be in comparison to how your actions are helping you achieve or fail to achieve this goal.
-
This style of therapy focuses on seeing you as the hero of your own life and carrying all of the tools you need to succeed. The therapist will walk with you in your shoes as you learn more about what you need. You will learn what strengths you have and where you have been resilient before in order to apply to present-day situations.
-
You may not have the time or resources to carry out a more extensive treatment. This type of therapy allows you to focus on the specific issue at hand and work in tandem with the therapist to problem-solve the situation. This is not appropriate for extensive trauma and is best for a situational dilemma.
