Hi, I am Sabriya Charles, and I just might be your new mental health provider! Let me share a little bit about myself.
Please note that I am formally “Sabriya Dobbins” as I underwent a recent name change 2024.
As your Registered Clinical Mental Health Counseling Intern, I am ready to support you on your therapeutic journey. In 2017, I graduated from North Carolina State University with dual Bachelor’s degrees in Animal Science and Social Work.
I graduated from the University of the Cumberlands with a Masters Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2022. I am a National Certified Counselor (NCC), and I am certified in various areas of Life Coaching along with therapeutic interventions like TF-CBT and Prolonged Exposure Therapy.
To ensure I am providing high-quality services to you and to continue to develop towards full licensure, I am under the supervision of Dr. Letitia Browne-James, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, Qualified Clinical Supervisor, and Board Certified Counselor with over 20 years of mental health experience. I meet with her on a consistent basis to discuss case notes and needs to enhance your treatment. You will learn more about this in your disclosure documents should you receive treatment from me.
I practice multi-modal, eclectic therapy, where I combine aspects of different therapeutic interventions to create your own specialized concoction based on your concerns and needs. You can learn more about my core approaches here. Did you check out my welcome video to you?
4 key therapy tenants I follow:
1) You are not just boiled down to a label or diagnosis. EVER. Therapy is so much more than that, and I will never treat you like a sick patient.
2) You already have everything you need already inside of you. I am not a magic maker. I just help you discover your own.
3) Whether it is faith or life philosophy, everyone believes in something to guide their reasons for being. I help you align yourself with what you believe.
4) You do not have to keep living how you are if it is not working. There are other ways to get to where you want to go. We can explore those paths together.
A little more background…
My mental health professional journey has not just begun! I have been doing amazing things in the mental wellness space for a while. I own a proactive mental wellness consulting, workshop, and retreat company called Project Passport as well. It launched in 2019! I am proud to have worked with companies and organizations all over the nation along with some international ones too!
I have had outstanding mental health outcomes with clients through my group therapy, individual therapy, and corporate wellness programming. My specialty is group experiences, as I have designed interactive corporate and therapy group experiences from top to bottom. They have ROCKED the lives of participants.
I am a speaker, Certified Professional Trainer, and author. I released my debut Christian business and self-help book, Purpose Doesn’t Care What’s In Your Bank account in March 2022.
My process with you…
I acknowledge that life is not always pretty, and I help you cope with it.
I believe it is important for people to have the tools to manage day-to-day obstacles in order to prevent severe disruptions in their well-being. Many sessions are spent equipping you for the realities of life.
What’s the point of anything for you in this life? We get to the root of why.
With purpose at the core of my counseling focus, I encourage clients to look for the deeper “why” in what they want and how they show up in the world.
I support you in identifying the problem issues at hand and encourage you to find ways to take ownership, so you can move forward.
My solution-focused style of counseling challenges clients to take responsibility for what they can control by creating solutions together that are viable and can move the client to the next stage of their lives. We look for the “roots or chains” holding you hostage, and we eliminate them one by one as holds in your life.
I am determined to help you get where you want to go, and I don’t play about that.
As a proponent of client accountability, mindfulness, and strengths-based therapy, I focus on helping clients move quickly into action to create real change by identifying what power they carry. I challenge you in session and outside of session too.
